SWAROVSKI ADDS SPARKLE AND GLAMOUR TO THE 79TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS®
Thirty four-foot Swarovski Crystal Curtain designed exclusively for the 79th Annual Academy Awards®
Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, along with the 40 million viewers who tuned in to watch the 79th Annual Academy Awards, held in LA on February 26, 2007, were treated to a spectacular set design which featured a one-ton, 34-foot custom designed Swarovski crystal curtain sparkling with over 50,000 crystals flown in especially from Austria.
Swarovski's illuminating tapestry of cascading crystal and light served as backdrop for Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres, in addition to some of Hollywood's biggest stars including Celine Dion, Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton, best actress winner Helen Mirren, Jack Nicholson, and Kate Winslet. The dazzling curtain helped re-define glamour as it was included in the show stopping performance by Dreamgirls cast members - Beyoncè Knowles, Anika Noni Rose and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.
The Academy joined forces with Swarovski, the most coveted and innovative crystal in fashion and design, to create this year's masterpiece for the Oscar stage, to complement the energy and spectacle of the biggest and most prestigious night in entertainment.
