OCEAN'S THIRTEEN
SPARKLING SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS ILIUMINATE THE SET ON THIS SUMMER'S BLOCKBUSTER
Swarovski Crystal Palace chandeliers star alongside George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia and Don Cheadle in the eagerly awaited Ocean’s Thirteen. Kristen Messina, set designer for the latest addition to the cult Ocean’s films, chose Cascade by Vincent Van Duysen to set the scene for the “Diamond Viewing Room”, and a cluster of Blossom chandeliers by Tord Boontje, both chandeliers from the Swarovski Crystal Palace Collection, to create a visual feast in a hotel suite dinning room. Ocean’s Thirteen sees the team of sophisticated players return to teach casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino) a lesson he’ll never forget.
Now in its sixth year, Swarovski Crystal Palace is a revolutionary concept aimed at reinventing and revitalising the chandelier, one of the most evocative and emotive expressions of cut crystal. Steeped in history and heritage, redolent of 18th century splendour and candlelit intrigue, the chandelier was frozen in time, undiscovered by the design community. Whilst celebrating the rich traditions of the chandelier, Swarovski Crystal Palace has broken barriers, played with the rules and opened a new chapter in the history of lighting.
As Hollywood’s premier crystal purveyor, Swarovski has had the privilege to adorn stars such as Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Grace Kelly in High Society, and Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina. More recently Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson sashayed past a Swarovski crystal curtain in Dreamgirls, Nicole Kidman shone with Swarovski in Moulin Rouge, James Bond sparkled with Swarovski in Die Another Day and the awe-inspiring chandelier in The Phantom of the Opera hung with more than 20,000 Swarovski crystals.
From the early days of Hollywood, Swarovski has worked hand in hand with costume and set designers, creating show-stopping jewels, costumes and stage sets which grab the spotlight. The company’s reputation for the highest quality and largest variety of the finest cut crystal is unchallenged on and off the silver screen.
