Over 3 million crystals adorned the clothes, designed by the leading names in fashion.
The Kills were with Prada, Skin with Mcqueen and Kasabian paired with Burberry. Roisin Murphy partnered with Vivienne Westwood, to the restless energy of jazz pianist and singer Jamie Cullum, teamed with Dutch design duo, Viktor and Rolf, whose startling models paraded along the crystal catwalk, their heads held high against collars shaped like satin pillows.
The perfect pairings of singer and designer continued, with Tommy Hilfiger's street-style show strutting to the strains of Blondie, and the ever-cool Debbie Harry. A true fashion and music moment crystallised as pop diva, Mariah Carey, rose like Venus, out of the centre of the stage, a voluptuous vision, shimmering in a second-skin crystal-covered gown by Versace with a one-off crystallized microphone. You just had to be there.
