"The collection has a modern tribal feel with a wide range of influences including, artist El Anatsui's installations, African shamans, and transformer robots. Luxurious silks are giving a modern makeover: fine silk moussline has been lacquered, and crisp silk tailoring earth buried to give both fabrics leather like appearance. Shapes are cocoon like, folded, pleated and tucked to give a papery drape. Textured raffia, white gold chain mesh, plastic components and layered feather and leather embroideries nod to the shaman's animal embodiment, but with a more futuristic almost "tech" approach. Sharply angled kite shaped Swarovski chandelier components add graphic texture and shine to the clusters of plastic embroideries. The hexagonal prism shaped crystals hang like stalactites or pieces of broken glass: clear crystal takes on the colour of the fabric beneath to create a translucent 3-d embellishment."
