Selfridges opens Swarovski Crystal Palace Exhibition on Oxford Street, August 2007

Selfridges will bring highlights from Swarovski’s Crystal Palace collections to its flagship store on Oxford Street from 1st August for one month in what has been designed to be a sparkling and enchanting show. It will be the first time key pieces from the collections, including some must-see chandeliers from the new 2007 range, will be staged together and open to the general public in the UK.

Swarovski Crystal Palace is a revolutionary concept aimed at reinventing and revitalising the chandelier, one of the most evocative and emotive expressions of cut crystal. Leading names in design have been commissioned by Swarovski to create their own contemporary interpretation of the chandelier, regenerating the concept by exploring the beauty, versatility and poetry of cut crystal and by pushing the limits of technical possibilities. The results are dramatic, captivating, and emotionally charged.

Selfridges is reflecting Swarovski Crystal Palace’s high design concept by creating an exclusive staging of some of the most striking pieces from the collection in its permanent events space, the Ultralounge. The pieces will be displayed in a stark jet black setting, the way a diamond ring would sit in its jewellery box. In the dark, the chandeliers’ intricate crystal arrangements and own lighting system will look astonishing.
