NOVA
Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby
Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have worked together since meeting as students at London’s Royal College of Art in 1992. Barber Osgerby was formed in 1996 to design products and furniture. The studio works with a range of materials, from ceramic to plastics, and their designs play with simplicity and functionality combined with aspects of the sculptural and the sensual.
Each Nova is a hanging pendant made from hand blown glass and filled with 750 Swarovski crystals to form a refracting layer. Illuminated by the pure white light of a halogen bulb, the chandelier produces a soft uplight through the glass and a refracted dappled downlight through the convex crystal base, thus creating two different lighting effects.
